Historic Amelia: Palazzo Venturelli

When I was living in Amelia, I met Gugliemo Antonini who was living out a lifetime’s dream of renovating a historic palazzo in his hometown. Palazzo Venturelli is perhaps one of the most important architectural monuments in the town of Amelia. There is a beautiful Roman mosaic floor in the cantina and historic frescoes on the walls of main reception room. Palazzo Venturelli is a magic place that is now open to the public for special occasions that focus on gastronomy, historic and cultural activities. Take a look at Palazzo Venturelli web site to find out about seasonal events:

The town of Amelia has a lovely historic centre that is largely untouched by development. Off the beaten path, there are not many tourists who find out about this little hilltop town. I plan to devote a few posts to highlights of Amelia. If you are in southern Umbria, I would highly recommend a trip to this special place.
